I'm living in Sydney, Australia. I make roughly around $6,500 - $7,000 Aussie a month (I guess around $4,000 USD?) after tax. My job involves working 12 hour shifts for 6 days a week, I get Saturday off, and no Sundays.

Now, here's where the problems arise.

I live in an apartment in the inner western suburbs, which is roughly about 45 minutes away from the city hub. I pay $700 Aussie a week (around $450 USD) - which is apparently relatively cheap for Sydney. I share with 2 other flatmates who pay roughly the same amount.

My car insurance is $180 Aussie every two months. My car loan is $1,000 Aussie every month. My phone bill is roughly $140 Aussie every month. I have a gym membership for $100 Aussie every month. Netflix and Spotify subscriptions etc etc.

I'm not much of a drinker, but I do eat out maybe once or twice a week which is roughly $20 Aussie a meal. I'm really struggling to understand why I just can't seem to save any money. As soon as my pay comes in, I'm already calculating how much I have left over after paying off all my bills. My superannuation contribution that my work is required to pay me is locked in until age 60, but I guess that's a different story.

Could someone please help me? I'm at a loss here.

TLDR: 23M, make over 6 figures and am completely unable to save because costs of living in Sydney are ridiculously high.
