Joking about us being ugly isn't funny

I liked the movie, the reboot wasn't that bad, a bit too different from the original movie but it got the point across. But the joke that we are the og Shrek horrible looking not who ever the last shrek is, is not funny or it is just me? I'm not that fat and ugly, people are using the stance to bully people who have medical problems. Because people who are suffering from a medical condition that is beyond their control, deserve to be called out and bullied.
