My daughter is leaving for college in a few days, apartment is empty- I am sad as my wife and I are empty nesters. My daughter is thrilled to leave, excited to go to college and enter the adult world. She got a $2000 gift card for a local furniture store to furnish her place. She had to return it, she didn’t want it. She doesn’t like “new furniture”. She said it makes her feel like there was “no history” in the apartment. She will shop second-hand, garage sales, freecyle, facebook marketplace for the items she needs in her place. <br><br>She is not a minimalist, she likes her stuff. But she like “used” stuff. <br><br>Why do we use the term “vintage” to used items, not new ones? She wants to be surrounded by things with history, not something made in a factory that was just shipped to the store. <br><br>New is not better.
