Everytime the modern Olympic Games are on the news, I see a 90% focus on "how many gold medal does america have" "see look how much better we are than everyone else" or just "which countries has the most gold/silver/bronze medal" or all the flag waving and people cheering on their nations flag, and it just seems like a bunch of nationalistic nonsense, "Worldwide Nationalistic Exposition". The olympic games currently, feels like the exact opposite of how the olympic games was supposed to be, the original olympic games was created in ancient Greece as a way to ease the animosity between warring nations, and this nations could meet, compete, put aside their animosity for a short period of time and appreciate athleticism, made friends, and strengthen bonds with other nations. The Modern Olympic Games have a similar goal, however, the modern olympic games carries none of that spirit, it is all about who has the most gold and who can prove how great their nation is.

I feel that modern history will look back at the modern Olympic Games (2010's onward) and be disgusted at how nationalistic it was. The 1936 Berlin games is a great example of that, and the modern olympic games have become something very similar, its just worldwide instead of in a single country.
