What do you think about travelers that knock on doors to see if someone is home?

I have seen a bunch of people on travel vlogs do this. Like they will be walking through a neighborhood and if they see a door open, they will knock to see if anyone is home.<br><br>Some people do it to see if they can get invited to dinner or something, and some of them do it to strike up a conversation.<br><br>I don't think that I would ever do that, but I can definitely see why some travelers might do this especially in certain parts of the world that are known to be friendly.<br><br>What do you think about it?
