I totally ignored my instincts and paid the price

It was December 2019 and I was flying from Taipei to New York. I totally hated this flight because it was an overnight flight that departed at around 3 in the afternoon. I got into the airport with about 7 hours to spare, and after the security check and customs, I had about 5 hours to spend.

There were a bunch of Chinese men in their 50s sharing a table in the empty food court. I thought it was a little weird that they were just sitting there for hours doing nothing. One of them caught my eye and asked where I was going. I told him. He said he was a flight attendant and if I can show him proof that I was on the flight, he could give me a nice bottle of alcohol for free. I didn't know if I should trust him, but I *had* to go over to the counter to check in and get my boarding pass, so I guess I could show him my boarding pass if they let me get one at 1 pm.

I told the flight staff there that I was here for my 3 pm flight and I want to know if I could get my boarding pass early. They said yes, and I told the Chinese flight attendant that hey, they gave me the boarding pass already, so here you go! He said that I was a very nice girl and I deserved a reward. He walked me to his group of friends and they gave me a big bottle of whatever Chinese alcohol.

I didn't plan on opening it, but they opened some for themselves and asked if I wanted to drink with them. I thought that 1-2 shots wouldn't hurt. They made me drink 5 shots, and each time they would say a toast about me being such a good girl and that I deserve to be treated well.

I knew that 5 shots was too much, and I told them that I had to go to my gate anyway. They said that they would walk me there. I protested and said that they didn't have to, but they insisted. There was like 6 of them. I finally gave in. On our way to the gate, I felt a hand on my butt. I yelped, and said that I could walk by myself from here, thank you very much. They said okay and walked away.

The flight attendants were already standing near the gate, and they were staring at me. I felt very embarrassed and guilty, like I did something wrong. I showed them my boarding pass and they didn't say anything to me.

I didn't realize just how much those 5 shots had affected me until I sat down in my seat. Fuck. I was too dazed and drunk to do anything. The male flight attendants (who were all Chinese) kept coming over to me the entire flight to ask how I was, and they kept patting me on the head and calling me "such a good girl." I told them I was fine, but they just kept coming over.

There were these two very tall, muscular guys sitting across from me who were wearing sunglasses even though it was nighttime. They kept staring at me. I felt that something was wrong, but my brain was a little too fuzzy to realize it.

After a while, I had to go to the bathroom. I stumbled my way to the washroom and I could feel that the two guys were following me. When I came out, they were standing right behind me. They asked if I was okay and I told them I was. They walked away.

The rest of the flight was a blur. The Chinese flight attendant who gave me the alcohol walked down the aisle and when he saw me he grinned at me. I felt sick. The flight ended without anything else happening, but I was so shook up by the time I got back to New York.

The next day, I was talking to a friend about what happened. She told me that the Chinese men in the airport were not flight attendants, they were just random people who targeted a young girl traveling alone. She said that the bottle was probably spiked. She said that the flight attendants who were calling me a "good girl" were in on it. She said that the guys staring at me were either going to rob me or gang rape me.

Jesus Christ.

Let's not meet again, creepy Chinese men in Taiwan Taoyuan Airport!
