What is happening in Iran right now?!

I have been pretty disconnected from the news for the last few days because I literally travelled across country and am still jet lagged. The last time I checked the news was 5 days ago, but it sounded like protests were gaining momentum in Iran and I was feeling pretty hopeful. I just checked again and am reading that *the Iranian government are now stating that it will not give in to what they are calling "riots".* Previously, I heard that the Iranian govt would not arrest anyone who participated in the protests, but now it sounds like that is not the case. I’ve also heard that the govt are using violence to intimidate protesters. <br><br>Things were looking so good. I hope it does not lead to a crackdown on the people. I am worried about the protesters safety. <br><br>I can’t help but think back to when Sinead Oconnor ripped the picture of the pope. This could be a moment like that. Does anyone know what is happening in Iran right now?
