I moved into my new house about 30 days ago, and all of my things were delivered a week after moving in. I was excited, as I had a month to work on decorating and unpacking.

However, I decided to do something a little different. I wanted to test how little I could live with before I decided what I needed to do with everything. So, I got rid of nearly everything that wasn't essential.

Here is a list of everything I got rid of and what I learned!

**Kitchen** - Kitchen table and chairs, coffee maker, microwave, TV, stand, stand mixer, coffee cups, all silverware (forks, knives, spoons), wine glasses, wine opener, bottles, knives, coffee maker, microwave, blender, toaster.

I already knew that I was getting rid of the TV and stand, so that wasn't hard. We didn't have enough room in the kitchen for a table and chairs, so I decided to just skip it. I am a college student and don't have time to cook for myself, so I didn't want to worry about silverware. I don't drink, but I kept the wine glasses for guests. I don't drink coffee, but I had the cups for when my parents came to visit. I didn't have a coffee maker, but got rid of the one I did have and used it to buy something I would use more. I like to have a bottle of wine for my parents every time they visit, so I didn't want to get rid of the wine opener. Some goods news! We do have knives, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster! I didn't think I would be able to get rid of those, and I didn't. Honestly, I didn't really like my stand mixer. It was the cheapest one, and it was so hard to use and clean. I was upset about this because I loved baking, so I used the money to buy a better one.

Things I got rid of: 10
Things I kept: 5

**Family room** - TV stand, coffee table, end tables, lamp, TV, remote controls, throw covers, blankets, throw pillows, TV.

I already knew that I wanted to get rid of the TV stand and TV, but I decided to get rid of the coffee table, end tables, lamp, lamp, throw covers, and throw pillows. I like the idea of having a simpler space. I got rid of the throw covers because I didn't think they would be necessary once we decluttered the house. I have a lot of blankets, so I decided to get rid of a few of them.

Things I got rid of: 10
Things I kept: 4

**Living room** - TV table, TV, lamp, end tables, remote controls, throw covers, blankets, throw pillows.

These were things that we got rid of when we got rid of the family room. We're going to use the space as an office.

Things I got rid of: 8
Things I kept: 0

**Office** - Office chair, desk, laptop stand, remote controls, books, throw pillows, throw covers, blanket.

I knew that I wanted to get rid of the office chair, desk, laptop stand, and throw pillows. I wasn't sure about the remote controls, so we decided to get rid of them. The office is for my dad who doesn't use a laptop, so it didn't make sense. We already had a laptop stand for my dad's office, so we got rid of the other one. We also got rid of the throw covers and blanket as well.

Things I got rid of: 8
Things I kept: 0

**Master bathroom** - Bath mat, toothbrush holder, toothpaste container, soap, hair dryer, hair straightener, hair curler, bathroom trash can, shower curtain, towels.

I decided to get rid of the bath mat, toothbrush holder, toothpaste container, soap, and hair dryer. I didn't like the look or feel of them, and I had better options.

Things I got rid of: 6
Things I kept: 4

**Master bedroom** - Closet organizer, nightstand, lamp, dressers, dresser drawers, mattress, bed frame, sheets, blankets, pillows, comforter, throw blanket, fan.

I decided to get rid of the closet organizer. It was a cheap one, and I really didn't like it. I also decided to get rid of the nightstand. It was against a wall, and I already had a place to store my lamp. I didn't need it, and it got in the way. I also got rid of one of the dressers. It was full of old clothes that I didn't wear anymore. I knew that I wanted to get rid of the bed frame because it was so expensive, but I reconsidered and decided to keep it. I also got rid of 2 of the dresser drawers and the fan, as it wasn't really necessary anymore.

Things I got rid of: 6
Things I kept: 6

**Upstairs bedroom 1** - Bed, bed frame, nightstand, lamp, closet organizer, dresser, dresser drawers, TV, TV stand, throw pillows, throw blanket, sheets, blankets, pillows, computer, monitor, desk, chair, fan, blower, humidifier, throw covers.

I decided to get rid of the bed, bed frame, and closet organizer. It all matched the set in the master bedroom, and I didn't like them. I also decided to get rid of the TV, TV stand, and throw pillows. It was just too much to have a TV in my room, and all of the other things were clutter. I also got rid of the throw blanket and throw covers.

Things I got rid of: 9
Things I kept: 7

**Upstairs bedroom 2** - Bed, bed frame, nightstand, lamp, closet organizer, dresser, dresser drawers, throw pillows, throw blanket, throw covers, sheets, blankets, pillows, fan, blower, humidifier.

I decided to get rid of the bed, bed frame, and closet organizer. I was surprised to see that I didn't miss anything that I had gotten rid of. I feel so much freer and less stressed without all of the stuff.

For me, minimalism means simplifying my life and focusing on what's truly important. It means letting go of the things that no longer serve me.

Thank you for reading.

**Edit: Please don't contact me to buy any of the remaining items. This was just to see how little I could live with, and now I want to buy the things that I would need. I also have limited time, so please don't contact me to buy the items I got rid of.**
