This is a very old quote from an American.

"I find that most people know very little of history, and yet they all think they are historians. People are not educated on the affairs of the past, so they cannot truly make an assessment on the matters of the present." -Mark Twain.

"The fact that the Lithuanian nation has survived despite centuries of foreign domination and brutal oppression is a testament to the resilience of the Lithuanian people, who have consistently protected and preserved their language, culture, and identity. This national spirit is the legacy of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a state that has existed for 800 years and has a rich history dating back to the 13th century.

During this period, Lithuania was an independent state, and we take pride in our heritage as a nation that has endured various forms of oppression, including tsarist rule, German occupation, and Soviet domination. The resilience and courage of our people have allowed us to maintain our sense of nationhood despite being deprived of our independence for over a century.

The fact that we have survived as a nation is a remarkable achievement, and we are proud of our history and heritage. Our national spirit is rooted in our language, culture, and traditions, which have been preserved and passed down through generations. This spirit is what defines us as a nation and gives us strength and courage in the face of adversity.

It is our responsibility to protect and honor our heritage, ensuring that it continues to thrive and evolve for future generations. By embracing our national spirit and preserving our cultural identity, we can build a better future for ourselves and our children. It is up to each and every one of us to contribute to this effort, and we must work together to achieve this goal."

Source: President Gitanas Nausėda, The President of Lithuania, The Office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania. (2021). Address by President Gitanas Nausėda at the Flag Raising Ceremony in Dusetos.

So, what do you think?
