We should let the gulls have our coastal towns

They were here before we were. For centuries we’ve encroached on their land, taken their food and driven them out. <br>Now the sea is coming for us anyway, it’s time to give them the crumbling husks of our seaside towns. <br>They are of no use to us, and soon we will have to abandon them. They are home to a few retired people, but they too shall eventually leave them. <br>We will soon have no choice but to abandon them, so let’s give them up now. <br><br>Eventually they will be claimed by the sea, in all their crumbling glory. The gulls will have homes to roost in, and the fish will have homes to live in. And we can live more inland.
