I'm a 27 year old Twitch streamer. I started streaming in 2014 and have been doing it full time since 2017. The point of this post is to discuss how mindblowing it is to watch the tech space move so quickly. Twitch was basically created in 2011. If it was 2012 and I told you "I'm going to play video games and thousands of people are going to watch me live" you would call me crazy, and you should have. It makes sense to an extent, thousands of people went to baseball games and watched in a huge stadium and enjoyed it. Thousands of people watch sports games on live TV.

However, it just makes me sad that I truly believe that we are on the edge of such major milestones in tech, but I will never be here to see or experience it. AI is going to revolutionize the way we live. Ray Kurzweil was the director of engineering at Google, and he believes that we have a 50% chance of achieving the singularity by 2045. If that is true, that means that there is a 50% chance that we will reach the point of technological singularity in less than 20 years. A point where our tech grows at an exponential rate that is beyond our control. I don't even know if I will see a point in my life where I can own a self driving car. I truly am not naive. I realize most people have no idea how close this stuff is. But it's not like it's years away. It's already here, and it's growing at what feels like an exponential rate.

I am so happy to be living through these times, but it's very sad to see how fast things are evolving. Sometimes it feels like I am taking a glimpse at the future, a future that I will never see in full. I get to see glimpses of what is possible but we are still so far away for me to experience it. Truly insane.
