AITA for giving my new range and fridge to a homeless couple.

Hello. I am a 42 year old woman, 41 when this all happened. I had been trying to buy a house for years and finally found the one.

The house was a little dilapidated, and had been lived in by a young couple. They were willing to put a lot of things in the house for us, but it needed new appliances. So i bought them.

House closing and all that took 3 months. I was set to move in on January 1st, 2023. So i got my appliances about a month before. They were put in the garage at my old place, so that i didn't have to worry about them.

I get a call on December 30th that the couple is moving out early. I tell them "not a problem, they can still have the appliances".

Turns out they didn't have a place to go. I now had appliances and no one to give them to. The couple were nice enough to help me move them to my new place. I decide "hey, why not let them stay here?"

The couch in the basement was useable, and they had access to our basement and the back room (a small bathroom with no tub). I don't plan on using either, and the back door to get in was a separate door from the house.

They helped me move everything in, and a week later, they asked if they could pay me $100 a month to stay. Hell, I couldn't rent the basement for that price, and i didn't want to kick a nice couple out into the cold.

Now my sister heard about all this and told me i was being an asshole for not telling her about the appliances and letting her know i no longer needed them, as she wanted them. I told her. "Hey, i told you they were for the old owners, not me. I don't need them and neither do you. If you wanted them, you should have told me".

Now she is pissed because she doesn't have the money to buy new appliances and i gave mine away.

So AITA?
