I just called 911 for a car accident, and the dispatcher asked me for my race. What?

It's the middle of the night, I'm 16 and alone at the wheel. A car just swerved into oncoming traffic and I narrowly avoided the wreck. I pull over to try and help. I call 911, and I've got everything ready to go: location, severity, vehicles involved, etc. She asks me for my race. What? Why does she care about that? Am I even supposed to give that out? I just told her white, but am I not supposed to?
