I heard about it in another post and looked it up on Wikipedia, and I honestly don't know what to make of it.

It was a civil war from 1850 to 1864 in China, but everything else about it is baffling to me.

* It was led by a BC pastor, with Confusianism and Taoism banned and Christian-like rituals enforced. Christians in the Western world, however, ignore it completely (no missionaries or churches, and no support from the Papacy).
* It had a complete gender equality system, where men and women were separated socially except for marriage and women could join the army and take government positions. But it also banned foot binding, opium, and prostitution, saying that they objectify women.
* The rebel statement of intent contained passages from the Bible and Chinese folklore.
* The government was divided into five branches, the same as the US, and the political system was very similar to the US system.
* There was a planned economy as well as complete freedom of religion, except for Taoism and Confusianism.
* Women could join the military and die in battle, but women could not work outside of the home or do labor.
* The leader believed that he was the literal brother of Jesus Christ, and that God had personally made him Emperor.
* The war killed an estimated 20 million people, with some estimates at up to 30 million.
* The war caused the collapse of the Qing Empire and the establishment of the Republic of China 50 years later.
* The war was secretly supported by the British Empire and France.
* Catholics do not recognize the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom as a Christian nation because they believed in polygamy, concubinism, and that istediğiniz was the brother of Jesus.

What the hell was going on in China during the 19th century?
