I don't really care for catgirls, but they have become a ingrained part of anime culture. I don't have a problem with the idea of a humanoid creature with cat ears and a cat tail; I just wish they were better depicted.

I want to see a catgirl that is more in line with how cats generally behave: a nocturnal hunter, small, fairly lazy creature that hunts at night and spends much of its time sleeping. Give them claws that can't actually retract, make them carnivores, make them have fur like cats, a tail that actually functions like a cat's tail and not a static accessory.

I'd like to see a catgirl as a build similar to a Siamese cat, but with a more humanoid body: smaller, slender and wiry, with claws that are always extended. I'd like to see them be primarily nocturnal, and have a more solitary life style. Make them capable of navigating trees and manipulating objects with their feet. I'd like to see them climb up people's sides to get to the top of a bookshelf.

I'd like to see them be afficianados of the night, with a deep love of the crepuscular world. I'd want to see them being woken up in the morning and being cranky until the afternoon. I'd like to see them have a very different worldview, one that is based on terrain and verticality and territoriality. I'd like to see their territorial markings, their scent, their way of speaking, their behavior. I'd like to see them display a mix of playful and deadly behavior, like a real cat.

I'd like to see real cat ppl, rather than simply humans with cat ears and a tail. I'd like to see them live like cats, but be self-aware and capable of thought. I'd like to see them socialize in the same way as cats do: rubbing heads, marking territory, showing a neck, having a hierarchy.

I'd like to see catgirls that are capricious and arbitrary, who punish and reward equally, and who punish in a way that isn't cruel but doesn't let you forget it. I'd like to see them be capricious in their moods and how they react and interact with others. I'd like to see them punish arbitrarily and reward equally, but I'd like to see them not get angry and be simply annoyed.

I'd like to see all of this, and I'd like to see them as part of a larger world and society, and not just as some gimmick or quirk to make a character stand out. I'd like to see them being a part of a larger society and world.
