CMV: It's unreasonably, unnecessarily difficult to get tested for COVID-19

So, I'm an elementary school teacher outside of Portland, Oregon, and we've had a pretty strict policy that states whenever a student is absent for more than 3 days, we need a doctor's note to ensure they're not coming back to school with an active illness. Now that we know the virus is in Oregon, we've had several kids be out sick 3 days or more (with symptoms matching COVID-19), and when they try to get tested for it, their primary physician will send them to the urgent care, urgent care will send them to the hospital, the hospital will send them to their primary physician, and they'll be instructed to stay home for 14 days and reevaluate.

Meaning that they, in the mean time, can't bring themselves back to school. The school is doing everything it can to keep itself clean and teach kids proper habits to keep themselves from catching or spreading the disease, but no one can get tested because the local government is seemingly so terrified that their testing will yield a positive result that they will refuse to test anyone. I don't want to teach sick kids, I don't want to work in a potentially contaminated environment, but when the government won't allow anyone to get tested, no one >>actually knows<< if they're sick with COVID-19 or just the flu.

This needs to change.

Now, change my view, if you please.
