What is happening now is that Elon Musk is a shitty boss, who isn't used to being told no, so he is having a temper tantrum and destroying Twitter in the process.

For the past two months Twitter has been bleeding money. Why? Elon wants twitter to be like a big real life virtual party where anyone can join in on a conversation and go up to anyone at the party and start talking to them. Twitter used to be like that, but now it isn't. Change #1 is the blue checkmark. The blue checkmark was like a name tag at the party that let you know if someone was famous or not. Elon has changed the blue checkmark system to a paid system where anyone can pay $7 a month for a blue checkmark. This is like a virtual name tag that you can put on your suit that has your name on it.

"Increased" Freedom of Speech. Well, what this is, is that Elon wants Twitter to be like a place where you don't have to worry about being booted out of the party for saying something off color. Elon wants the party to be like a place where you can say anything you want to anyone you want, and not worry about getting booted out. Why? Elon is afraid that Twitter and other social media companies are removing posts fast enough based on very strict rules. Elon wants to make it not so strict, which he calls 'freedom of speech.' Freedom of speech is something that is in the constitution, and it is something that is important to Americans. Here is the problem, Twitter is a private company based in the United States, and as a result it doesn't have to uphold freedom of speech. But, Elon has been finding out that a public virtual party is not the same as a private virtual party. In the real world you can't just have a party and invite everyone, because you have to invite them. In the virtual world you don't have to invite people, so you can't exclude people from the party. Elon is finding this out the hard way.

When you go to a public place, you have to be considerate of others. Why? Because you are not alone. You are with a lot of other people, so you have to be considerate of them. Elon is finding this out the hard way. He is a very rich man and he is not used to being told no. He is finding out that, as a public company, he can't just do what he wants. He has to consider other people. He has to be considerate of Twitter users, who don't want to be bombarded with ads, or have the rules of Twitter changed on them at a moments notice. And he has to be considerate of those who pay to advertise, since that is what they want. So Elon has to balance public and private.

Last night, Elon got into a fight with a guy who runs a company called Substack. This guy was pissed that Twitter is competing with Substack, by offering a subscription. Elon got into a fight with this guy on Twitter, and at one point said "you are breaking the rules." This was a big deal, because Elon was telling this guy that he was breaking the rules that Elon is making up on the spot, and that he has to do what he says. This guy, and a lot of Americans in general, are pissed because Elon says that you can say anything you want to anyone you want, but then he goes and tells this guy that he is breaking the rules. Well, what kind of rules? It turns out that Elon is now saying that Twitter is a private company, and he can tell you what to do and what not to do.

Elon is a very powerful guy. He is a billionaire, who is CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter. He is a very smart guy who is very good at what he does. But like a lot of smart people, he is kinda oblivious to the world. He doesn't understand that what he wants isn't what everyone wants. He wants Twitter to be like a big party where anyone can come and go as they please. But he is realizing that Twitter is inside a house, and that house belongs to the people who use Twitter, and they want to exclude people from the house.
