CMV: If you support Cavender's decision to not bake a cake for any same-sex weddings, you should have supported all bakers' right to not bake a cake for any interracial weddings back in the 1960's. (Update)

It's been a hot topic these past few days in the news about the Supreme Court decision Cavender's v. Craig to allow business owners to sell products to whomever they please if it conflicts with their religious beliefs. Yesterday, The Supreme Court ruled that Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, could decline to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple because it went against his religious beliefs.

I truly believe that if you think it's totally fine and respectful to deny Cavender's decision, you should have had no problem to allow business owners to not sell products to whomever they please if it conflicts with their religious beliefs back in the 1960's, specifically with interracial marriages. I know this will spark some controversy, but I have no idea where you stand on this topic. I think lately, some people have been making excuses for why they should be able to discriminate against whomever they please under the guise of "religious beliefs." With this, I think they should not have allowed any bakers to sell products to interracial couples back in the 1960s.

I'd love to know the other side of this. Please let me know any , if there are any.

**tl;dr:** If you think it's totally fine for Jack Phillips to deny selling products to whomever he pleases, you should have allowed bakers to deny interracial couples a wedding cake back in the 1960s.

**EDIT**: I have a whole lot to read and I will try to respond to everyone. I appreciate every comment and will try to respond to everyone I can.

**EDIT 2**: Well, wow. I mean that's all I can say. I didn't expect this to get as much attention as it did. I appreciate everyone's comments and I'll try to keep up with everything as much as I can. Seriously, thank you so much to everyone who has commented and replied to this thread.
