I was invited to my friends place today. As we were catching up i offered to help her with folding and she agreed.

As we sat down to fold and chat she got a message inviting her to go to a party. She declined telling me it is not her scene.

About 20 minutes later her bf came into the room and smiled greeting me both and said but she loves parties, for a moment I was confused and she smiled and said it's a long story.

He then said why did she turn down the party invite. She said she isn't in the mood. He said but she loves parties and repeated what he said earlier.

I was struggling trying to understand why she keeps saying she isn't in the mood and he kept pushing her to go. She had already said no and he needs to let her make her own decisions.

He once again repeated she loves parties. I lost my cool and asked him does he need to hear himself? He just repeated what he said and she looked from him to me.

He asked her again and I said I think you've asked her enough times. He said it's between us. I said she's my friend and I want her to be happy. He said she'll be happy at the party and I said I don't think she is.

He looked from her to me and said this is between us. I said I want him to leave and my friend seemed pleased with my response.

He turned around and left. And said thanks. I said why does he keep pushing you when you said no. She said it's been a long time and he just wants me to have a good time. I said why would he push you so much and she said I don't know.

We talked some more and we decided to have a dinner at my place. The restaurant I wanted to go to was full and my friend said no problem at all.

I cooked a meal and we ate.

About 30 minutes after we finished eating and were clearing the table her bf knocked. She looked at me and I said go ahead.

She spoke to him outside for about 5 minutes and he looked at me before leaving.

She came inside and said he wanted to apologise and I said okay. She said he wants me to go back and she showed me his text.

It said 'I'll be home, come back please'

I said okay so she grabbed her things and went back. She text to say thanks and I said it was fine.

She called me yesterday and apologised for her bf's behaviour.

I said it's fine and she said that he keep pushing me because his friends were going to be there as well.

I asked her why she didn't tell him to fuck off for pushing her so much.

She said she felt like she had to do it as he wanted her to and she didn't want him to give her the silent treatment.

I told her I was sorry that I had to witness that and she said she was sorry too.

She sent me his text again saying he's sorry and wants to talk. I agreed and he came to my work.

He apologised for pushing her and I said you didn't push her you pushed yourself on her because she said no and you ignored her.

He looked at me and I asked him if he knows what no means and he apologised. I told him that she's my friend and I didn't want to see someone treating her like that.

He said he knows but he wanted her to have a good time. I said why did you keep asking her when she said no. He said she's always wanted to go to a party and he wanted her to have that.

I asked him again if he knows what no means and he said yes. I said then you should have listened to her when she said no.

He said she'll say no and then change her mind. I said then you should have listened to her when she said no.

He said she gets upset when he doesn't push her. I said she's my friend and I want her to be happy. He said he wants her to be happy too but she always changes her mind.

I said when someone says no they are declining whatever it is. No means no and he should have listened to her.

He said but she changes her mind. I said if she said no and you asked her multiple times without her saying yes then that is pushing her and she declined your invite.

He nodded and left and my friend called and asked what happened.

I said he apologised and looked like he knew what he was doing. She said okay thanks.

Is there anything I could have done to help? Or did I mess up?
