"Starter" app idea

For people with speech processing needs that do not need the full capabilities of a communication app like "proloquo2go" or "lAMP".<br>The full communication apps are the most powerful, but they are too expensive for many disabled full text speakers who need a simple app to give them a voice they can use in a pinch, or as a supplement to their full communication app.<br><br>There are speech generating apps that can be used as starters, such as "SpeakIt!" , but the basic app could be made more accessible and more useful to this population.<br><br>The app would have a few practical phrases to help navigate the world for people who are temporarily non-verbal, or an augmentative communication method for those who are unable to verbalize certain things due to neurodiverse issues like apraxia, stuttering, or other stutters.<br><br>It could include phrases like: <br>\* What do you need from me?<br>\* "Can I help you with anything?"<br>\* "I am having trouble speaking right now. Please be patient."<br>\* "I am not comfortable with \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_."<br>\* "I need some space."<br>\* "I need a break from this conversation."<br>\* "I would like to talk to your supervisor."<br>\* "Can you please make an appointment for \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_?"<br>\* "What time does your shift end?"<br>\* "I need medical attention. Please call 911."<br>\* "I need you to get me an ASL interpreter."<br>\* "Can you please write that down for me?"<br>\* "I don't understand you. Please speak more slowly."<br><br>Many people who are disabled are unable to get access to full communication apps. I think this app could be an alternative, or a "starter" augmentative communication method. I think the app should run on both tablets and phones, and have a landscape mode, to aid users who use stand mounts on their phones or tablets.<br><br>I would love feedback on this app, and if anyone would like to share their experiences with augmentative communication methods, please share!
