Facial recognition can be a powerful tool, but in the US it is wildly misused

The biggest problem with facial recognition in the US is how it is implemented and how it can be used by anyone with a badge and very little training. It should never be used as a conviction or arrest tool. It is fine (according to most courts) to be used as a lead generation tool in conjunction with human intelligence where several other factors are in play, such as eye-witness sightings, public footage, tips from informants or the public, etc... I know this may seem as a minority opinion in chambers, but technology can be a very useful tool in the right hands to solve crimes when used right and with the right restrictions in place.
