How do I create an Arc?

I'm writing my first novel (extremely rough draft -a lot of my readers would cringe over my dialogue, most especially), and I was wondering the best way to create an Arc for my characters. What are some tips and tricks? How should I set it up? I'm super confused, so please help me out here.
