I'm really concerned about men's mental health

I'm a mental health therapist(f48)who has jumped back into dating (males) after a ten year dating hiatus.

I've met a few men, taken some time to get to know them, and dang. Usually about a month into getting to know these guys I'm hearing phrases like "emotionally dead inside" and "unable to understand my own or other's feelings". They are angry and irritated at the core of their emotional lives and have very low levels of positive emotion. I feel so horrible for them when they disclose these things to me. It's very sad.

One guy I dated had been in therapy for 20 years and was still, after that many years, describing living his life with intense irritability, feeling unloved, a lack of joy, and a generally miserable outlook on life.

These are the kinds of things I usually hear from my female clients who have experienced major trauma. I never expected this.

I am actually going to stop dating now because I can't seem to find a man who is not haunted by dark emotions. I feel so horrible for these guys because it must suck to live this way. It's so sad. I don't know what to do because I can't (and don't want to) fix these emotional pain issues. I just want to date someone who is happy and emotionally healthy.

It's a good thing I'm single and don't have kids because I'm going to go back to devoting my life to my career. I just can't seem to find a man who is whole and happy. I wish they'd all get therapy.
