AITA for telling my husband he gave our 14 year old daughter the low down version of sex talk because he didn't want to have an uncomfortable conversation and it was messed up?

My daughter got her period two years ago but we're a very blushy family and we don't talk a lot about personal things.

I wanted to proactively have the sex conversation with her so she doesn't get all the wrong information from school or the internet but my husband asked me to let him do it instead and I agreed thinking he'd do better since he's a man but whatever reason.

He gave me the short story that he spoke to her and it was okay. I didn't want to push but I felt like something was off and I asked my daughter about it and she told me that he didn't say much and basically just said to never get pregnant and to always make sure to have condoms and that whatever she decides to do, she should never tell us. Her words not mine.

I was mad and my sister agreed that it was fcked up to say that and I had a talk with my husband and expressed that I was disappointed he didn't have a serious conversation with her but instead told her to keep it a secret from us but he claims that he was just trying to be prepared for when we'd have the talk so he doesn't have to go through the discomfort of explaining it. He said I took it out of proportion and he just wanted to prepare himself for the talk. I told him that he did wrong regardless.

He was quiet the rest of the day but my sister said that it's very weird for a man to say that and that my daughter would probably never open up to him about it because he made it a secret. I told her it couldn't be helped and she said that I should be the one to do it and that I was partly to blame for trusting him with it but honestly I thought he was gonna do it better than me because he's a man and knows more about men's needs than I do.
