What percentage of words in each language are loan words?

For example, I recently watched a show about how the Spanish phrase for "candy" is an Arabic phrase for "candy" mispronounced in Arabic, which was loaned to the Spanish, which was then loaned to the indigenous people of the Americas, where it was then adopted into English as the word "taffy."
