If you’re still in high school, please, for the love of all things good and holy, listen to me

I’m a freshman at one of the top 5 universities in my country. It is extremely difficult and I am working my ass off to get good grades and not to fail out. If I fail, my parents won’t pay for my uni anymore and I won’t be able to graduate.

Yesterday, I was talking to some of my uni friends and we all agreed that we didn’t do enough in high school, so now we have to deal with the consequences. I don’t want you to make the same mistake I did. **Start studying in your second to last year of high school.** It doesn’t matter if you want to go to uni or not, you need to put in work to get good grades.

When I was in high school, I didn’t give a flying fuck about my grades. I watched a lot of YouTube and TikTok, I didn’t do any extracurriculars, I didn’t read books and I only worked out sometimes. I was only focusing on having fun.

I got into this uni but now I have to put in so much time studying every day if I want to get good grades. I have 22 hours of classes every week, but I’m also studying at home 4-5 hours every day. I barely have time to do anything else. I feel like I’m missing out on my uni experience because I don’t have enough free time. I only have enough time to work out 2 to 3 times a week. I only get to hang out with my friends sometimes. I’m always tired and my back hurts. I have no free time to do what I want, I don’t have time to read books or to watch YouTube videos, I don’t have time to chill. I feel like shit.

What I want you to take from this post is that you should definitely put in a lot of work in high school. I know you might feel like you want to just have fun, but trust me, you don’t want to be in my situation. I’m overwhelmed and I don’t know what to do sometimes.

GET GOOD GRADES. If you don’t, you may regret it. You are only a student for a small part of your life. It’s better to put in work when you’re young than to have a lot of responsibilities at a young age. If you work in high school, it will definitely pay off in the future.
