It's okay to tell a kid to eat their food so they don't go hungry

This was inspired by a kid in a YouTube video I watched. He complained that he was hungry but wouldn't eat his food because he didn't like it. His parents proceeded to make him a sandwich because, quote, "you can go to sleep a little hungry but you can't force someone to eat".

I was poor as a kid, and anytime I said I was hungry but didn't want to eat, my dad would make me look in the fridge and when he proved to me I didn't have anything else to eat he would say "well you better eat because you're hungry now and you will go to sleep hungry." When I was little and my mom was bed-ridden from an accident, he would work 11 hour shifts and come home and cook for his 3 kids. He rarely got to sit down and eat because he was busy making sure everything was okay.

The thought of telling him "you made a home-cooked meal for me and two of my siblings but I don't like pasta tonight" seems absolutely insane because I never saw this man sit down. I never saw him smoke, or game, or do anything he liked. All he did was work for us and make sure we had what we needed.

I never went hungry. Neither did my siblings. I don't care if you hate carrots, eat your goddamn food so you're not hungry. When you get older you can buy your own food and choose whatever you want but when I'm paying for your everything you will eat what you're given. If you're still hungry after finishing your food, you are not hungry, you're bored.
