In 2022, Apple TV+ plans to release a movie every month. The service has already fared quite well in terms of quality, and more content should help boost user numbers.

Behind Netflix and Amazon, Apple TV+ is the third-biggest spender on content in the streaming space, according to the report. By comparison, Netflix is expected to spend around $15 billion on content next year and Amazon will spend around $13 billion.

The report also conjectures that, in terms of quality, Apple doesn’t have much of a choice but to continue increasing its spend. Netflix is slowly but surely moving away from licensed content and toward original content, and Amazon is quickly ramping up its content production and acquisition. Disney and HBO are also producing a ton of content.

Content is a costly proposition, and it looks like Apple is willing to spend the money necessary to be competitive in the space. While Apple is certainly in a better position than most companies to spend heavily on content, it’s not clear how big the potential market is for Apple TV+. Netflix and Amazon Prime are both quite popular, and Disney has gotten off to a strong start with Disney+. It could be difficult for Apple TV+ to stand out from the crowd.
