Oatmeal as a pantry staple?

I recently relocated to a new city to start a job and am having a hard time finding a grocery store that I like. I've been trying to explore different options in the area. I did find a grocery store that is really cheap, but it's more expensive to travel to that one so it's a good option for once a month, but not for my weekly grocery trips.

My apartment building is really close to a Walmart and it's easy to go there on my way home from work. They have really cheap instant oats. In effort to save money and time, I've been trying to incorporate oatmeal more into my diet. I'm currently cooking it with water and milk, and adding a bit of honey. Someone in this sub (sorry I don't have the link) suggested trying to add peanut butter to oatmeal, which I'm interested to try. I know a lot of people put fruit in their oatmeal.

I am interested in adding more flavor to my oatmeal. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? And am I on the right track with my cooking method? I'm not sure if I want to invest in a rice cooker to cook the oats, but I would rather make something that tastes good than have a quicker recipe that tastes menial in comparison.

Thanks everyone!
