CMV: Saying 'guys' to a group of men and women is perfectly fine, and misandrist to men if people have to use a different word for women.

**TL;DR:** If you want to talk to a group of people, with men and women, and you say 'guys', this is perfectly fine. If someone complains about this, they're being a sexist towards men.

**My view:** It should always be fine to call a group 'guys'. If a sub-group of that group (in this case, women) complain about being included into that group, they're being sexist. The reason is that 'you guys' is used for both genders in everyday language and saying that one gender shouldn't be included is just unfair.

**Why you should change my view:** I can already imagine the main argument anyone would have, which is that 'guys' is a masculine word and is associated with men. While that's true, 'you guys' has become an accepted phrase which can be used regardless of the gender of the people you're talking to. I know many women who freely use the word 'you guys', but get offended when someone else says it to them. To me this seems like a double standard. The only reason someone would get angry with someone calling them 'guys' is because of the gender connotation associated with it (i.e., you're a man). So, if someone gets angry at being called 'guys' because of the masculine connotation with the word, they're being sexist towards men because they're venting at men for using a word which they associate with being male.
