My relationship with my boyfriend has changed

We have been together for almost 3 years and he had always been very sweet with me, we were able to communicate about anything, but yesterday he told me "I should be careful how I talk to him and be more obedient and submissive". I mean, I love him very much and I am willing to make sacrifices for our relationship, and I think that he is right and that I should change my behavior with him.
