Sorry to be a bit of a debbie downer in this economy, but

I think that the UK is slowly becoming the next Japan. A highly skilled country with low birth rates, aging population and an economy in decline.

The recent news that 200,000 of our brightest graduates have left the country this year is horrifying. We are losing the next generation of our workforce to other countries because we have lower salaries and higher costs of living.

One in ten skilled workers have left the country in just this year. That is 200,000 people who are most likely gone forever, with us losing the tax money, the skills, and the future industry that they would have created.

This has happened because our economy cannot compete with countries like the US or Australia. Our cost of living is too high which makes our salaries too low, and as a result we cannot keep hold of our best and brightest.

When the great financial crisis happened in 2007-2008, the rest of the world was able to recover and grow. But the UK did not. Because of the Brexit referendum in 2016 and the subsequent loss of EU workers, we have not had a growing economy since the financial crash.

This is why we are facing the same economic problems that Japan has been facing, if not already. Japan has been losing industry, skilled workers and tax money to other countries.

In Japan, the birth rates are so low that the population is shrinking. The UK has recently seen a sharp decline in births, and is likely to be heading in the same direction as Japan in the coming years.

We are becoming the next Japan.

Sorry for the gloom folks, have a great day and congratulations to those who have left.
