The most intense part of the day will always be the first hour, so take control of it

This is my first time on this chamber, and I don't know how many of you would agree to this, but I'm just gonna write this post and hope that it helps you to get more productive in your daily life. I'm currently 16 years old and there's this habit that I'll have to do every single day. Waking up at 5am.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a night owl and I can't get to bed before 1am, and it's respectably normal for a 16 year old. However, the truth is that waking up at 5am doesn't have much to do with your bedtime. Sure, waking up at 5am and only have 4 hours of sleep is not healthy in the long run, but let me tell you this, the first hour of the day will always be the most intense part.

You'll notice that when you wake up, your adrenaline will start pumping like crazy, your eyes will be wide open, and your mind will be racing all over the place. It's like you're on a drug high, and you'll be able to focus on anything that you do. I'm not gonna lie, I love being productive, and those 60 minutes will get a lot of things done, like practicing guitar, or writing and stuff, but the problem lies in getting up.

You see, when you wake up, you're not alone. Literally. There's this voice inside your head that will want you to go back to sleep, and guess what, it's winning right now. But if you don't want to waste your entire life sleeping, you gotta get up. Something that I found that helps is that you find something that you want to do, and you have to do it the first minute that you wake up. It has to be something that you enjoy, not something that you have to do.

For example, ever since the pandemic started, I would wake up at 5, then spend 30 minutes looking out the window, watching the sun rise. When you spend time doing something that you enjoy, you'll get addicted. The reason I woke up at 5 was cause I wanted to watch the sunrise. And only after that will I start doing the things that I have to do like meditating, journaling, etc. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as you have something that you enjoy to motivate you to get out of bed. I would say that that voice that you hear will go away after a month, but that's only temporary.

I'm not gonna lie, it's 2am here, and I'm still up writing this. I'm tired, but I have to finish this, but that voice is screaming at me to go to sleep. I know I have to get up in 3 hours, but it doesn't matter. It's your choice. You either listen to that voice inside your head, or you create a routine that will keep you up for the rest of your life. It might not make a difference now, but trust me, it will someday.
