Yeah, just go to r/confession and r/roosterteeth off and take a look at the quality of content there.

Ignoring the fact that anyone with a modicum of intelligence can create a throwaway and post whatever they want there, there is no feasible way that the majority of people posting there have a decent life. A ton of people regularly confess to stealing and shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of food every day from Walmarts, etc. and there are many confessions of wildly violent and aggressive behavior from people who are "tired of being pushed around". A ton of people confess to regularly drinking and/or do drugs and drive. There is such a deluge of posts from people who have completely given up on life, and people who are just shitheads.

You will find a great deal of such garbage on any given "internet community", with people defending shoplifting because "corporations are the real criminals", the ubiquity of shitholes like /c/askteenboys, etc.

The internet age has ushered in an era where it's commonly accepted that that stealing and ruining other people's day is fine because you "don't like" the place you're stealing from. I've seen so many comments on Facebook from people saying it's totally fine to steal from certain fast food places because they're shady. Like wtf?

Hopping into literally any "discussion"/"debate" on the internet outside of a handful of tiny chambers inhabited by 10,000 people at most, you will mostly find insults and personal attacks from people who couldn't give less of a shit about you or your well-being. And yet people continue to use the internet and engage with it, often to the detriment of their real life. Back in my Facebook days, I remember someone posted something along the lines of "Reasons you should delete your Facebook". Among them was something like "because Facebook is just a place to collect acquaintances who you don't care about and who don't care about you". I couldn't have agreed more.

Don't even get me started on the hellhole that is Twitter.

Edit: To clarify, I am not saying that everyone on the internet is like this. I am saying that the majority of people participating in conversations on the internet act like this.
