Seagulls learn to open recycling bins to steal plastic

Seagulls are getting “smarter” and have learned how to open wheelie recycling bins to steal plastic waste and drop it into the sea.<br><br>The clever birds have developed the skill in recent years, according to a wildlife expert.<br><br>Dr Peter Ward, an ornithologist at the University of Hull, who led the research, said: “There's a very strong association between gulls and plastic waste.<br><br>“They can see into the bins, see something they want, and figure out how to get it. They are incredibly intelligent animals.”
