Looks like the Anime industry is coming to an end

Unless you've been living under a rock, you would have heard that the Japanese government have struck a deal with Crunchyroll to save the Anime industry.

Having watched the recent interview with Kyle from Crunchyroll, who admits that they will create studios to produce Anime. Kyle refuses to answer whether they will be using AI to produce Anime and dodges questions about whether his company will be operating in the same way as writers aren't paid for their work once it has been sold to the studios.

The good news for Crunchyroll shareholders is that their share price has surged since the news. Q4 profits are expected to be healthy. So good news all round for investors.

For fans of Anime however, its bad news. Netflix could be getting competition but they will be no Anime to watch. The big franchises like One Piece, Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball, My Hero and others will be preserved and continue to be produced by the bigger studios and Crunchyroll will produce more of the same formulaic shit that has a built in audience.

For new IP, we will be seeing a lot more AI generated content. Its sad to see the industry coming to and end and seeing creators lose their jobs, but hey at least Haikyuu!! and Shield Hero season 3-10 will be getting made.

Also the Japanese government adding more tax breaks for Anime production? When the industry is getting more commercialised, why should the average Japanese person be subsidising the industry?

Finally, Kyle from Crunchyroll refuses to answer whether they will showing their content in Japanese cinemas. They should end the existing agreements that they have and reject any future offers from cinema chains.
