Do you think human civilization will survive the end of capitalism?

This is a topic I think about often. Capitalism seems like a necessary step in the direction of improving human civilization - without the profit motive, much of what has happened in the last century wouldn’t have happened. But I don’t think it will be necessary in the future. I think it will be a huge problem as we approach technological singularity. <br><br>Do you think human society can transition to a post-scarcity economy and a culture where we have the means to survive but we no longer exist in a profit-centric society?<br><br>What will happen to people who are only motivated by money or status? Do they adapt or do they become a social problem?
