My dad says another version of himself in the multiverse called me once

This is actually so cool, especially at the end.

I was like 14 at the time and was sitting in the living room with my dad when I get a call from my dad’s phone number. This is unusual because he NEVER gives me his number for anything in the first place and when he does, the people he gives it to never call me. The phone ringing becomes so loud that my dad and I both can hear it and he says “oh, that’s probably so and so calling me.” He then answers the phone and I can hear a bunch of static and buzzing on the other end, followed by my dad answering and saying “Hello? Hello?”. Then he looks at me and notices that I’m kind of marveling at this and he asks me “you’re not trying to trick me are you?”. I wasn’t actually but the fact that he thought I was trying to trick him made me ask him “how would I pull that off?”. He then just answers “I don’t know” and sits there listening to the static on the other end of the phone for a minute, still saying “hello?” every few seconds, before he finally ends the call.

This whole thing took place in a pretty unusual time in our lives in which we had moved to another country for something that fell apart after only a few months. We were essentially stuck there for almost a year and spent a lot of our days cooped up in our apartment together. I think he was excited during the call because he legitimately thought it was someone he knew calling him back and it was a surprise in a way because he hadn’t heard from them in a while.
