UPDATE: I've been with my partner for 6 years and have known him for 10, but today I found out he is petty, inconsiderate and rude.

I'd just like to start by saying thank you to everyone who gave advice. It seemed like a lot of people were divided on what should happen next. Some said he was a waste of time (you guys were super encouraging and persuasive), some said to leave him but give him a chance to make it up to me, and some said just talk to him. I decided to go with the last suggestion.

I got home from work and he was in the kitchen taking stuff out for dinner. He asked what I wanted to eat and I said to just make whatever because I didn't care. He asked if I was okay and I said I'm fine. He offered to make my favourite but I just said I didn't mind. Finally he asked if everything was okay. I sat down at the island in the kitchen and said everything wasn't okay. I showed him the note I wrote (see original post) and read it to him as he read it out loud from the paper. I told him how I felt, and I actually cried which I don't do often. He apologised and said it wasn't malicious, and that he just doesn't like the way I eat. I asked him if he could just let me do it how I want since I only do it once or twice a year, and he said he'd let me from now on. He made my favourite meal and we ate together, and things seem good again.

He suggested we take out the garbage since we were both off work tomorrow, and I said okay even though I was tired and I had to wake up at 7am to take out the trash. He took all 5 bags outside by himself. I'm feeling a little better, and he seems to care again. So I guess we'll see how things go from here.

EDIT: I feel like I need to clarify a few things. Some of you are saying that this isn't petty, and that it's no big deal. It isn't, which is what makes this so hard. It's not a big deal to eat my food the way I want to. Also, he did apologise but he also laughed as he was doing it (according to the girl who saw him and the manager who heard him).
