For the past 6-7 years, Bengal's state machinery has been failing to protect pandals in Muslims areas. Police excuses make little sense. To some extent police are also held to ransom by Muslim groups.<br><br>Malda, Chittagong, Suri- we have seen this play out multiple times. What is most irritating is the lack of remorse on the part of Muslims. If their only aim was to bring Muslims under one umbrella, nothing could have achieved it more than standing with Hindus on the issue of violence and vandalism. But they won't. They will blame Hindus and police for this- they won't take names of their own religion.
