I have no problem with another lockdown, but I do have a problem with full-time workers not getting financially compensated for it from the government.

I think we can all agree that the last lockdown did not go well, especially when it came to finances. With businesses having to close, jobs getting lost and whatnot, things took a turn for the worse. And while I am not defending the approach governments took, I do think that after what we went through and what we learned from it, we could do better this time.

Now, I am not a fan of lockdowns. I really am not. But this is not just about people's physical health but also about the finances of the healthcare system. If it is overloaded and runs out of money, hospitals might not be able to treat everyone. They might be forced to only treat the ones with the highest chances of surviving, and the others would have to rely on their families taking care of them. This is of course under the assumption that no one got a ventilator. Seriously, I am by far not a doctor and this is nothing but my honest opinion, but still.

Now, whether people like it or not, a lockdown is absolutely necessary. And since we went through one, we could potentially do better this time. For example, we could make sure that people who are forced to stay at home and can't go to work get compensated. There are lots of jobs that you can't do from home, and without customers, business can go bankrupt. If governments compensate people for staying home, businesses would still have a chance to stay alive and even thrive when the situation improves and things go back to normal.

I know not all countries can easily do that, but I live in the EU, so there's that.
