As a healthcare worker, I think that everyone should see a dead body before they turn 18.

As the heading says, I'm a healthcare worker. I've seen my fair share of bodies, and I think it's given me a different view on the world. I was discussing this with a few of my colleagues and they told me to post it on here.

I work as a phlebotomist in one of the biggest cancer centers in the world. It's a fucking view into another world. While I think that children absolutely should not be seeing dead bodies, I think around 16 or 17, everyone should see one.

The first dead body I saw was when I was 17. A resident took me into the morgue after hours and showed me 3 different corpses. It completely changed my view of death. I think it's what made me choose healthcare. I saw death as a "slippery road" like what Hemingway called it. And while my main goal is to save people, the view of that dead body put a sense of urgency in me, you know? While I don't think that seeing a dead body will change everyone, I think it will change a lot of people, and it will change how people view the world.
