Does anyone else hate hearing women say, "If all men dropped down and died tomorrow women would still be able to reproduce, and the human race would still be able to carry on."?

I hate, hate, hate this line of thinking. Yes, even if every single man dropped dead tomorrow, and science allowed for artificial reproduction, humans would eventually become genetically defunct.

Genetic diversity is a complex web, and requires the interactions of individuals in the right circumstances. Yes, maybe a few generations of humans could thrive with artificial reproduction, but eventually the race would die off. Further, it completely ignores all of the good that men have done for society throughout history. I'm not sexist, but I cannot stand the arrogance of women that think that we are not necessary, especially with the implied undertone that they are superior.

Edit: Wow, never have I loved chambers more. Thank you to those of you that responded respectfully from both perspectives.

Edit #2: Wow, just had a lengthy PM from a very intelligent woman that tried to convince me that all men are inherently evil because, "men have been in power throughout history, so all the evil that men have committed is the fault of men, but all of the good that men have done that has helped society cannot be attributed to men because men only did things to help themselves. All the women that have done evil things in history did so at the behest of men." Seriously?

Edit #3: I had no idea this was going to blow up so much. I just wanted to get something off my chest. I was expecting maybe 5 upvotes, and 3-4 comments.
