I'm personally interested in the fact that a tribal leader had sacrificed himself to save italy.

Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus was a Roman consul who was under attack by Gauls. One of the gauls who was present in the war was Vercingetorix's father, Gobanitio, who had been an enemy of the Gauls for quite some time.

When the war was raging on, Gobanitio went to the consul and told him that he would show him the weak points of the gauls and help defeat them if the consul let him return home safely. Tiberius agreed to do so and in the end, the gauls lost more than half of their men.

However, upon learning of his betrayal, the gauls burned Gobanitio alive in-front of his family.

A lot of people might know about Vercingetorix but the fact that his father burned alive to save the Romans is completely lost to the pages of history.
