Is there a term for the concept where 'The basic unit of Life is Death' 'The basic unit of Speech is Silence' 'The basic unit of movement is stillness' etc.?

This concept occurred to me one day.

That the basic unit of life is death.
Life is measured in units of death, how dead you are; years since you were born, years to go until you are dead.
Life is defined by death, we can't measure life in the same way as we can life. Who knows how much life is in a man? Who knows how much 'dead' is in a dead man? My point is, is that you can tell by just looking at a dead man that he is fully dead, whereas you can't tell by just looks alone how much life is in life.

This idea then got me thinking about how there is quite a few pairs of things that are similar to this; SPEECH & SILENCE, MOVEMENT & STILLNESS, LIGHT & DARK, CONSCIOUS & SUBCONSCIOUS etc.

Is there a philosopher that had documented these observations? Is there a philosopher that has expanded on these observations? I can't really find anything online about it.

It feels like there should be something out there, but I don't know where to look.
