Charles was a great guy until I brought up the 2nd Amendment.

We met in the law department at a big box store. He was asking me about a pistol I was getting ready to purchase. We get to talking about different pistols and I asked what he was thinking about purchasing. He said he was looking for a pistol to carry. He said that people are getting more violent and the police aren't there in a timely manner. With all the crime he felt the need to carry a pistol. I agreed and said I carry everywhere I go. He said he would like to but his wife doesn't want that. He said she would be afraid to be around him.

I said that's funny, my wife carries a pistol too. He said really, then he went on to say he just recently got his CCW. He said he felt it was a hassle. I said I have a CCW for the few states that don't recognize my permit from my state. He said he thought all states recognize every permit. I said no they don't.

He then went on to say that all states should recognize every permit. I said they should, but it's a money grab. I then said "If we lose the 2nd Amendment we will lose a lot more of our rights". He said - "We don't need a 2nd Amendment anymore".

I said we most certainly do need the 2nd Amendment. He said we need stricter gun laws and the government should have stricter control over who can purchase a gun. I said that's not right. I said the government shouldn't have control over us. It's the other way around. He said the government knows what is best for the American people and should have more control. I said they most certainly do not. The people that he voted for are in control of our government and to prove it all you have to do is look around and see what they are doing to the country. It's not good.

He said "Trump started everything". I said that's not true. He said Trump wouldn't turn over his taxes - I said that's not true. He said Trump won't turn over his phone - I said that's not true either. He just kept going on with lie after lie until I couldn't help it but laugh. He said what's so funny? I said you are just repeating what you heard on the radio or saw on TV. I said if you would do a little research you would see that everything you said was a lie.

He said I do my research, I read a lot and I listen to a lot of people. I said the people you are getting your information from are power hungry. They lie, take advantage of, and use people like you for what they can get from you. The only thing you get from them is a vote.

He said "I'm done talking to you". I said good, you are making yourself look bad. He then said "I'm reporting you to the manager, you're not a good customer". Then he stormed off and stood by the checkout lane waiting for the manager.

I finished my purchase, he was still standing there. As I was walking away I said "Good luck sir".
