What if we colonized the moon first?

So let’s imagine that we colonized the moon before Mars. Or we might be in the middle of colonizing both Mars and the moon. I’ll list the ways this would change both Earth and our moonbase and maybe make a more interesting story than a Mars colony.

So the first way is the way it would change the moon. Obviously it would probably make the moon a giant quarry for getting moon rocks to throw at Earth. It would also probably use an enormous amount of solar power, as well as geothermal heat if we’re able to dig into the moon’s core. Since the moon doesn’t have water or any atmosphere, this could make the moonbase more prone to fires or very sensitive to air pressure. It would probably change the moonbase more than a Mars colony would change Mars.

The moon is much, much closer to earth than Mars, this could be a variety of things. It would make it much easier to colonize the moon, and would be cheaper to get stuff to the moon. It would also make trade with the moon much cheaper, so if we were importing space-mined materials from the moon, it would just be easier to get it to the earth than if it was from Mars. However, it would be easier for us to attack the moonbase from earth, and for the moonbase to attack us from there.

Another thing would be how this could change the way the moonbase and earth interact. Since the moonbase would be closer, this could change the idea of interplanetary war. It could be seen as much more serious if a war between the moon and earth happened, since the moon is much closer to earth than mars is.
