She has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and because of that her joints will dislocate super easy, and her skin will tear even on the smallest scratches. She had to stop working out because of how much she would hurt herself. Also she has a service dog.

We were married 6 years and then we divorced 3 years ago. We had a nasty divorce, but it’s water under the bridge now. We weren’t able to come to an agreement about the house, so the only thing we could both agree on was that we would get the house together, and once we sell it, we will split the money. But, the house is currently in her name, because I was the one who paid for the divorce and the lawyer.

The problem is that since a couple of months ago, she keeps saying that she wants to gamers the house, but just with the condition that she will sell it just for the price she wants. I felt that it was completely unfair because it doesn’t matter what she wants, it’s not her house, and we both have to agree on the price. But she kept pushing me to let her sell the house. We live in different states so we can’t have a face to face talk.

A week ago she was in the city, and she offered to meet so we could talk about the house. I accepted and we met at a café. I felt like she wanted to just guilt trip me into letting her sell it, but I was pretty sure that she wanted to buy it herself, and I know that she has the money. I wasn’t sure about how much she was gonna offer me but I knew that it was gonna be a very lowball offer and I just didn’t want to play around with her.

That’s why when she made her offer, I countered her with a higher offer but only with the condition that she had to get rid of her service dog. I know that her dog is important part of her life, so I wasn’t really expecting her to accept. But I just wanted to show her how it feels to try to make someone do something just because of a condition.

She said that I was being a dick and playing with her disability, and I said that she was doing the same by trying to lowball me for my own house. A couple of days later she sent me an email from her lawyer. She was suing me for discrimination. I felt like it was BS, but I knew that she was gonna play the poor victim with the judge. I talked to my lawyer friends and they told me that she didn’t really have a case, but that it was just a power move.

But it’s been a week, and her lawyer hasn’t contacted me at all. So I don’t know if she was just trying to scare me into selling the house, or if she’s actually gonna pursue the lawsuit.
