Why are some people so resistant to "doing their own research"?

Hello everyone. I'm doing a bootcamp right now at a coding school, and I've noticed that there are a lot of other ways to learn how to code for less money, like YouTube tutorials, Chambers, and various bootcamps on the internet. I've talked with some others in my class about the cost of the program, and when I mention that they could probably learn just as much if not more this way, they mostly tell me that their reasoning was that they wanted to be able to ask questions to their instructors. There are literally thousands of videos dedicated to answering any given question, and tons of chambers dedicated to coding. I just don't understand it, and I want to know if anyone else has noticed this kind of mindset. People will pay thousands of dollars for a program just because of the ability to ask questions. I think this is one of the reasons why coding schools have such a bad track record of getting people hired after they finish.
