Writing is dying out.

Honestly I don't even care if this is an unpopular opinion, I believe that writing has started dying out. I'm a 20 y/o and almost nobody in my life gives a shit about actually writing anymore. Writing a story, journaling, even note taking. It's become a more and more ancient practice. My friends who are also English majors will actively avoid any assignment that requires us to actually write with an actual pen and paper.

This makes me so fucking sad. Writing has been with us as long as we've had words. It's been just as integral to the development of people as whatever other means of communication we've had. As a person who's entire goal in life is to become a successful author, I feel as though I've missed my prime time in life to have been one.

Even now, as chatgpt (and other ai writing softwares like it) becomes more and more prevalent, I don't see a value on writing anymore. I know this shit is nothing but a tool, that it can't *actually* write, but still. The quality that these ai are putting out is so good, and they're getting so much use, that I genuinely don't see a point in actually taught how to write anymore.

What are your thoughts on this?
